License model

eXLerate has a license model with various editions based on number of I/O tags. There are a number of functional editions available, in combination with various runtime options.

An End-User License Agreement (EULA) of eXLerate is based on a specific edition, with a certain I/O tag count size, and with specific runtime and development options. Each EULA further contains a number of enabled communication protocols, and a number of additional options. Contact Spirit IT for a detailed list with options.

Editions

The following editions are available in eXLerate:

EDITION

DESCRIPTION

Standalone      Edition

A Standalone Edition is a standalone version of eXLerate running on a single machine. A Standalone Edition communicates with external equipment via serial or Ethernet interfaces.

Server
Edition

A Server Edition runs in a server/client environment, and is able to communicate with external equipment via serial or Ethernet interfaces. A Server can run as a Duty Server, or as a Standby Server. There can be multiple Servers, but only one Server is designated as Duty; the other Servers are Standby servers.

Client
Edition

A Client Edition runs in a server/client environment, and is NOT able to communicate itself with externals devices, but instead, is connected to a Duty Server via one or more networks. A client allows full control & operation, where all data and reports are obtained from a Duty Server.

License size

For each Edition, the following sizes in terms of I/O count are availabsoftware binderle:

Redundant I/O tags actually count as a single tag within our license model. This means that in a dual redundant system where 2x100 tags are used to communicate with two external devices, only 100 I/O tags are needed in the license.

Runtime Mode

In order to communicate with external devices, eXLerate should have Runtime Mode enabled. Systems without a Runtime Mode are only enabled to communicate for one (1) hour for testing purposes. When the hour has expired, the communication stops.

Maintenance Dongle

For approved System Integrators eXLerate also supports the use of a Maintenance Dongle, with which an engineer is able on a system with Runtime-only rights to revert to Development mode in order to inspect or modify an application.

dongleAs the USB-dongle supplies a full development license on any system, the device is also favourable for application engineers who are working on multiple computers.

The license associated with the dongle provides full development options, with the restriction of 1 hour runtime testing. After the 1 hour of runtime testing, the system automatically reverts to development mode.

The device can be purchased from Spirit IT based on a personalized agreement, and it is only available for Approved System Integrators.

Runtime-license Dongle

From eXLerate V2.10.126 onwards, we also support the use of a Runtime Dongle, with which a user is enabled to run the eXLerate software on client machines. dongleAs the USB-dongle supplies a full development license on any system, the device is also favourable for application engineers who are working on multiple computers.

The device can be purchased from Spirit IT based on a personalized agreement for Approved System Integrators.
